Coventry’s Only 5-Star Rated Scaffolding Company
TEMPORARY ROOF SCAFFOLDING
Some projects simply can’t wait for the weather to improve. If the roof needs to come off, or part of the building will be exposed during construction, keeping everything underneath protected quickly becomes the priority.
That’s where temporary roof scaffolding comes in. RSUK designs and installs bespoke temporary roof systems for domestic, commercial and industrial projects across the West Midlands. Backed by more than 40 years’ experience and using advanced 3D software, we’ll design a bespoke temporary roof scaffolding to suit your needs.

What is Temporary Roof Scaffolding?
A temporary roof is exactly what it sounds like, a weatherproof roof built on top of a scaffold structure while permanent roofing or structural work is carried out underneath.
Unlike standard scaffolding, which is there to provide access, a temporary roof scaffolding also protects the building itself. Aluminium roof beams support the structure, while weatherproof materials create a covered working area below.
They’re commonly used when removing or replacing roofs or repairing buildings that have been damaged by fire or severe weather. By keeping the work area dry, contractors can often continue working when they’d otherwise be forced to stop.

When Do You Need Temporary Roof Scaffolding?
Roof Replacements
Once tiles or roof coverings start coming off, the building is exposed to the elements. A temporary roof keeps the building protected while the new roof is installed.
Loft Conversions
Opening up a roof is a key stage of many loft conversions. Installing a temporary roof helps keep the property watertight while work progresses inside.
Fire or Storm Damage
Emergency repairs often can’t wait. A temporary roof provides immediate protection while permanent repair work is organised.
Commercial Refurbishments
Many commercial projects have fixed completion dates. Temporary roofing helps reduce disruption caused by poor weather, allowing trades to keep working in all conditions.
Heritage and Listed Buildings
Older buildings often require lengthy restoration work. Temporary roofs help protect historic structures while conservation specialists carry out repairs.
Industrial Maintenance
Industrial sites frequently need roof repairs but can’t risk exposing equipment or production areas below. A temporary roof provides shelter while work is conducted.
BENEFITS
Benefits of Temporary Roof Scaffolding
Protects Buildings From the Weather
Without a roof, buildings can be vulnerable to the effects of weather, particularly rain. A temporary roof scaffold protects the structure from weather damage, avoiding unexpected costs or additional work.
Keeps Projects Moving
Weather can cause lengthy delays to a project if the work area isn’t properly covered. A temporary roof scaffolding is a quick, affordable way to keep your work on track.
Improves Site Safety
Wet weather can increase onsite risks, making slips and falls more likely. By covering your work area, you can keep it drier and safer.
Protects Materials and Equipment
Leaving materials and equipment exposed to the elements could cost you thousands. A roof scaffolding is the perfect way to keep everything secure and dry.
Suitable for Year-Round Construction
Halting construction for weeks on-end because of rough weather just isn’t an option. Temporary roof scaffolding means you can keep working in all seasons, sheltered from the weather.
Reduces Costly Delays
Every lost day has an impact on programme costs. Protecting the work area can reduce delays and help keep projects moving towards completion.

Temporary Roof Systems We Install
Every building is different, so we take a unique approach to every project.
Our team designs temporary roofs to suit the specifications of your project and work area, selecting the most appropriate solution based on the span, site layout and the work being carried out. Depending on the application, that could include aluminium beam roofs, Keder roof systems, shrink wrap systems, traditional sheeted roofs, clear-span structures or a fully bespoke design.
Whether it’s a house undergoing a roof replacement or a major commercial refurbishment, we’ll design a temporary roof scaffolding that’s fit for purpose.

Safety and Compliance
All our work follows current HSE guidance, including TG20 compliance and SG4 guidance for working at height. Installations are completed by CISRS-qualified scaffolders, with inspections carried out at the required intervals and scaffold tags used to record inspection status on site.
Where a project requires it, we also carry out scaffold design and load calculations before installation, ensuring the structure is suitable for both the building and the work taking place. Public protection measures are considered from the outset, and licences obtained if needed.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
SAFETY FEATURE CHECKLIST
Our meticulous approach to site safety enables us to provide safe scaffolding solutions. This is further enhanced by accessories such as temporary roof scaffolding that protects from varying weather conditions year-round. Along with our accessories, we utilise state-of-the-art design software and conduct thorough site inspections with every project we undertake to deliver fully compliant scaffolding.
GUARDRAILS AND TOE BOARDS
Guardrails are one of the most important elements in ensuring construction site safety, they’re a vital measure to protect workers from falling. They offer balance and provide assurance so workers can focus on their tasks. Toe boards further enhance safety by preventing equipment from falling.
NON-SLIP PLATFORMS
It’s a necessity to provide a non-slip platform, especially in the UK, where rainfall is always an issue. Non-slip platforms help keep workers safe and allow them to work with complete confidence.
AADJUSTABLE BASE PLATES AND STABILITY ANCHORS
Our team is versed in providing scaffolding for various types of buildings, even those built on uneven surfaces. By utilising adjustable base plates and stability anchors, we’re able to provide sturdy and secure scaffolding.
LOAD-BEARING CAPACITY AND COMPLIANCE
We adhere to all HSE (Health and Safety Executive) guidelines and safety standards to provide compliant scaffolding systems, licensed to cover the overlap of scaffolding with public roads and pavements. Our safety measures include testing load-bearing capacity before erection to enhance structural safety and ensure scaffolding can support the weight of workers, tools and materials.
SECURE ACCESS POINTS
Through the utilisation of advanced software, we’re able to design each scaffold and plan secure entry points for workers to access scaffolding with ease. This helps limit accidents and allows tools and equipment to be carried onto a structure safely.
CONDUCTING INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE
For every project, we recommend a safety inspection every seven days to ensure the scaffolding remains structurally sound and free from damage or emerging safety risks.
